GIFT AID

By making your donations to the church under Gift Aid you can increase Parish income at no extra cost to yourself.

As part of a registered charity (The RC Diocese of Arundel & Brighton) the Parish is able to claim a tax refund in respect of donations made under Gift Aid.

The tax refund arises as contributions made under Gift Aid are treated as being received under deduction of basic rate tax. This means that the Parish can increase Gift Aid donations by 28%.

The maths is as follows:
Gross Donation 1.28
Income Tax Element 0.28
Actual Donation 1.00 (Amount Given)

Tax at 22% of gross donation 0.28 (Tax reclaimed by Parish)

The figures above are calculated at the current basic tax rate of 22%,

For Gift Aid to work:

* The donor must be a taxpayer.
* There must be a Gift Aid Declaration.
* Donations must be given by Standing Order or using Offertory Envelopes.
Ordinary cash donations placed in the collection baskets are not covered by Gift Aid.
