The
Prayer of the Faithful Sunday
19th February 2012 ‘Day for the Unemployed’ 7th
Sunday in Ordinary Time Celebrant:
My dear people, sin
destroys our friendship with God and with one another.
We ask the Lord to send his grace of reconciliation into our world. Reader:
The response to the
petition is ‘Lord, hear our prayer’.
All: Lord, hear our prayer. Reader:
For the Church,
that we may continue to proclaim to the world the Gospel message of love and
salvation, and to live the message through word, action and example. Pause
for silence. Celebrant: Let
us pray to the Lord. All:
Lord, hear our prayer. Reader:
For all civil
authorities, that they may use their leadership to rebuild relationships
that have been damaged through mistrust, abuse and misuse of power. Pause
for silence. Celebrant: Let
us pray to the Lord. All:
Lord, hear our prayer. Reader:
For families and
individuals dealing with unemployment or uncertainty in their work, that
they may find employment and stability, and that others may respond to them
with respect and support. Pause
for silence. Celebrant: Let
us pray to the Lord. All:
Lord, hear our prayer. Reader:
For our parish
family, that we may all reach out to each other in love and reconciliation,
realising our creation in God’s image. Pause
for silence. Celebrant: Let
us pray to the Lord. All:
Lord, hear our prayer. (The
Celebrant may include an additional intention at this point.) Reader:
For those who have
died recently and for those whose anniversaries occur about this time. The
Celebrant will read the names from the newsletter of those who have died
recently; he will then lead the prayer as follows: Celebrant:
May their souls,
and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy † of God,
rest in peace. All:
Amen. Reader:
We ask Mary, our
heavenly Mother, to join her prayers with ours: Hail
Mary... Reader:
We now pray for a
few moments in silence, for our own intentions. Pause
for silence. Celebrant:
Father in heaven,
you heal and restore us and answer our prayers, which we make through Christ
our Lord. All:
Amen. |
